Police have IDed those killed in this week's Route 55 crash

MANTUA TWP. — A preliminary New Jersey State Police investigation has produced new details about a two-vehicle collision that killed both drivers Thursday.

Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron said troopers responded at 8:58 a.m. Thursday to the vicinity of milepost 51.8 on the northbound side of Route 55. A Jeep Compass was believed to be traveling south when it crossed into the northbound lanes, striking a Toyota Rav4 head-on.

Both vehicles overturned, and the Toyota caught fire.

The Jeep driver was identified as Stanley Kahana, a 62-year-old male from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Toyota driver was identified as Jennifer Hufnell, 53, of Deptford Township.

The crash remains under investigation, and no further information is available at this time, Lebron said.

Members of the Gloucester County Office of Emergency Management also responded to the scene.
