Police take man into custody after car crashes into church in Baton Rouge, causes fire

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The Baton Rouge Police Department has taken a man into custody after a car crashed into Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church on Scenic Highway on Thursday, Aug. 15.

The car drove through the church and caused a fire. According to emergency medical services officials, there were no injuries.

Police said the call came in just before noon. Officers are still working the scene.

Details on the crash were not immediately available. BRProud has reached out to the Baton Rouge Fire Department for more information.
