Police in Wisconsin looking to identify man who stole elderly woman’s wallet and charged over $10,000 to financial accounts

MADISON, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities in southern Wisconsin are seeking the public’s help in identifying a suspect who allegedly stole an elderly woman’s purse and spent thousands of dollars.

According to a release, an elderly woman in Madison was approached in her vehicle after exiting a grocery store in the 4700 block of Madison Yards Way on August 5 at around 4:00 p.m.

A man approached the woman and asked her for directions to the nearest emergency room. While trying to help the individual, an accomplice was able to take her wallet.

After the wallet was stolen, the suspects traveled to numerous stores and charged over $10,000 to the victim’s financial accounts.

The Madison Police Department is asking anyone with information on the incident or who can identify the individual to contact the department at 608-255-2345.
