New poll highlights Josh Shapiro approval rating during VP search
(WHTM) – A new poll shows about half of Pennsylvania’s residents approve of Governor Josh Shapiro‘s job performance as he’s reportedly being considered as a Vice Presidential candidate.
The new Emerson College Polling/The Hill survey found 49% of Pennsylvanians surveyed approved of Shapiro while only 31% disapproved. Twenty-two percent of Pennsylvania Republicans and 46% of Independents approved of Shapiro’s performance.
Harris-Shapiro endorsed by Philadelphia Democratic party for the 2024 ticket
Shapiro’s approval was tied with fellow swing state governors Gretchen Witmer (D-Michigan) and Brian Kemp (R-Georgia) where surveys were also recently conducted.
In his first two years as Governor Shapiro has been historically popular in Pennsylvania.
An April Franklin & Marshall College Poll found 54% of voters believe Shapiro has done and excellent or good job as Governor. That approval rating in that poll was higher than Governors Tom Ridge, Tom Wolf, Ed Rendell, and Tom Corbett at this point in their first terms.

Shapiro’s latest approval rating comes amid reports he’s been requested to submit vetting information to the Harris campaign in the Vice President’s search for a running mate.
Shapiro has said Harris has a “personal decision” to make in a search that’s likely to end before August 7.
