Pollinator gardens coming to 2 Baldwin County parks
BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. (WKRG) — Two local state parks are getting a feature that will look pretty and help benefit the ecosystem.

The new features are pollinator gardens, or “garden[s] dedicated to native plants that provide nectar and pollen to native pollinator species,” an Alabama State Parks release said.
According to the news release, pollinator gardens are coming to 12 parks throughout the state, and two of them — Gulf State Park and Meaher State Park — are in Baldwin County.
Officials explain that the following parks are getting the new feature thanks to a $25,000 grant from the Alabama Association of Resource, Conservation, and Development Councils.

“We truly appreciate RC&D for funding this project, which will create a new interactive experience for State Parks visitors to enjoy,” State Parks Director Greg Lein said. “These pollinator gardens are more than just something pretty to look at and enjoy. They also improve and enhance habitat for pollinators, and that has incredible ecological benefits for all Alabamians.”
Lein continued, “We strive for every visitor to enjoy a first-class experience in our state parks, and these gardens definitely fulfill that goal.”
