Popular Irish crime drama just dropped on Netflix
Popular Irish crime drama Kin has just dropped on Netflix.
The acclaimed series first premiered on RTé in Ireland in 2021, and both seasons have also aired on BBC One for UK viewers, but now the first season is available to watch on the streaming platform.
Kin follows fictional crime family the Kinsellas, with Aidan Gillen (Game of Thrones) and Ciarán Hinds starring as rival gang leaders Frank Kinsella and Eamon Cunningham, who are embroiled in war.

The show also stars former Hollyoaks actor Emmett J Scanlan, as well as Maria Doyle Kennedy (Outlander), Charlie Cox (Daredevil: Born Again) and Clare Dunne (The Last Duel).
The crime drama has been received well by both critics and viewers, previously achieving a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes – and it still has a strong rating.
However, the future of Kin is uncertain, as despite its success, it hasn’t yet been renewed for a third season.

Speaking to The Irish Sun this week, Scanlan revealed that he doesn’t know whether the show will return for another outing.
"I wish I had news for that," he said. "It’s not me just saying I don’t know. I genuinely don’t. I hope it comes back, I’m very proud to be part of the show. I love the show, I love the cast, the writing, everything about it was great. It was so well received, not only [in Ireland] but in Britain as well."

Scanlan also shared his hopes that the show’s arrival on Netflix will introduce the series to more people and will improve its chances of getting renewed.
He said: "I know it hits Netflix on May 1 and, please god, it gets an even bigger audience. Maybe it gets a bigger following and maybe that’s brought to the table in the discussions of whether it goes for a season three or not.
"If it does, then I’ll be there in a heartbeat. If it doesn’t, then it was one of the highlights of my career."
Kin is now available to stream on Netflix. It also airs on BBC One and iPlayer in the UK and is broadcast on RTé in Ireland, while US fans can catch it on AMC+.
