Port Allen police investigate shooting that left 1 dead
PORT ALLEN, La. (BRPROUD) – The Port Allen Police Department is investigating after a man was shot and taken to the hospital Sunday night.
According to the police, they received a call from the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office about a male shooting victim taken to the Our Lady of the Lake Hospital on Airline Highway.
Police said the victim died at the hospital and identified him as Jacolby Jones, 24.
During the investigation, officers learned a 17-year-old allegedly discharged a gun inside a car and hit Jones. The juvenile was arrested on Monday and charged with illegal possession of a firearm by a juvenile and negligent homicide.
An investigation is ongoing.
