Portland music festival Project Pabst makes comeback with T-Pain among performers

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A once-thriving Portland music festival will make its comeback this summer, and with R&B act T-Pain as one of its slated performers.

Project Pabst, organized by beer company Pabst Blue Ribbon, will return to Tom McCall Waterfront Park on Saturday, July 27 and Sunday, July 28.

Event organizers announced the 2024 lineup on Tuesday. In addition to “Buy U a Drank” singer T-Pain, Florida-born rapper Denzel Curry, English rockstar Billy Idol and indie folk band Big Thief are among the artists scheduled to take the stage.

Portland’s female rock trio Gossip, which reunited last year, will also make their return to the Pacific Northwest.

In past years, critically-acclaimed musicians such as Tame Impala, Nas, Ice Cube and Blondie were festival headliners.

Project Pabst had its original Portland run from 2014 to 2017, with the final two years held in partnership with Willamette Week’s former festival MusicfestNW. But according to a previous report from the local newspaper, Pabst Blue Ribbon “decided to go in a different direction” toward the end of 2017.

The company is now re-introducing the festival that will feature live performances, local art, food vendors and, of course, beer.

“Ten years ago, the team threw the first Project Pabst in Portland, and this year we have the opportunity to bring it back to the city where it all started,” Pabst Blue Ribbon Brand Director Rachel Keeton said in a statement. “We set out to create a festival that PBR fans would love, and I’m really proud of how this lineup delivers.”

Pre-sale tickets for the 21+ festival are available now, with prices starting at $99. General tickets will go on sale this Friday, March 8 at 8 a.m.
