Portland police announce ‘one of the largest single-day’ drug busts in its history

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Portland police announced a monumental drug bust that happened along Interstate 5 that amounts to “one of the largest single-day seizures” in its history.

In a collaboration between the Portland Police Bureau and a multi-agency drug task force, the bust involving the seizure of an estimated $2 million of drugs happened on Thursday.

PPB said in a release, “investigators from PPB’s Narcotics and Organized Crime Unit/HIDTA Interdiction Taskforce seized 90 pounds of methamphetamine, 11 pounds of fentanyl, and 3.8 pounds of heroin during a highway interdiction on Interstate 5 in the Portland area.”

Officials said they could not release specifics about the case as it is still an ongoing investigation.
