Previewing the DePasquale-Sunday race for Pa. attorney general
The Pennsylvania attorney general race features the state's former Democratic auditor general against a current Republican district attorney.
Democrats are represented by 52-year-old Eugene DePasquale, who advanced to the November general election after besting a crowded field including four fellow Democratic contenders. His opponent is 49-year-old Republican Dave Sunday, who won his primary by nearly 30 percentage points against state Rep. Craig Williams, R-Delaware.
Current Attorney General Michelle Henry was appointed to the position after Josh Shapiro left it to become governor. Henry has expressed no interest in running for this office.
Eugene DePasquale (D)
DePasquale served two terms of Pennsylvania's auditor general, and in 2020 launched an unsuccessful bid for U.S. House against Rep. Scott Perry, R-Pa.
Issues:
A supporter of universal background checks, DePasquale has promised to work closely with local and state law enforcement to confiscate illegal guns.
DePasquale has pledged to crack down on polluters accountable and promote sustainable policies that address climate change.
Dave Sunday (R)
Sunday is the York County district attorney and a U.S. Navy veteran who once helped with prosecuting gang, drug and illegal gun cases for the U.S. Department of Justice as a special assistant United States attorney for the Middle District of Pennsylvania.
Issues:

Sunday has emphasized the need to both aggressively prosecute drug traffickers and to increase access to rehabilitative treatment for drug users.
