Previewing the Roae-Walker race for Pa. House 6th Legislative District
The longtime incumbent in Pennsylvania's 6th Legislative District will not go unchallenged in 2024.
Republican state Rep. Brad Roae is seeking a 10th term in Harrisburg. His Democratic opponent is Michael Walker, owner of the winery Blissful Meads.
Roae won each of his past two races by 30 points or more.
Brad Roae (R)
In Harrisburg, Roae chairs the House's State Government Committee. His district includes parts of Erie and Crawford counties.
Issues:
Roae has advocated for the Republican-controlled Senate’s plan to reduce the personal income tax and erase the gross receipts tax on electricity.
He's a supporter of mandatory voter ID for those casting election ballots.
Michael Walker (D)
Walker is a Meadville native and a former student at Edinboro University.
Issues:
He said he hopes to convert Woodcock Park in Crawford County into a state park, seeking improvements to both management and maintenance.
Citing compliance gaps related to the Americans with Disabilities Act, Walker has pledged to implement stricter enforcement measures for a more inclusive society.
