Prince Harry, Matt Damon, José Andrés speaking at Clinton Global Initiative meeting
Prince Harry, actors Matt Damon and Sophia Bush and celebrity chef and humanitarian activist José Andrés will be among the high-profile speakers addressing “pressing global challenges” at the Clinton Global Initiative’s annual meeting later this month.
The two-day gathering, which kicks off Sept. 23 in New York City, is “focused on ‘What’s Working’ in efforts to tackle climate resilience, global health equity, gun violence, the protection of journalists, humanitarian crises” and other issues, the group founded by former President Clinton announced Thursday.
Some of the other headliners include Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, Laurene Powell Jobs, Yulia Navalnaya, Shonda Rhimes, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D), Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker (D), Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, Bill Nye and Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm.
In a statement, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton touted the speakers as the Clinton Global Initiative’s “most robust lineup of participants yet,” saying they “represent some of the boldest ideas and most meaningful solutions at work around the globe.”
The group, founded in 2005, also said its annual meeting would “feature the launch of more than 100 new partnerships that advance solutions to major global challenges.”
