Princess Beatrice praises 'amazing' Sarah Ferguson's This Morning stint
The royal daughter of Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew gave her first ever live TV interview from the top of the Empire State Building on the ITV daytime show.
What did you miss?
Princess Beatrice has hailed Sarah Ferguson as a "phenomenal icon" when her mum did a stint on This Morning.
The eldest daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson made her debut on the ITV daytime show in a live interview from the top of the Empire State Building in New York
Princess Beatrice appeared on This Morning to talk to hosts Josie Gibson and Craig Doyle about educational charity Outward Bound. A new fundraising initiative is giving people the opportunity to abseil down the Empire State Building to raise money for the charity.
In her first This Morning interview, Princess Beatrice also had great praise for her mum.
What, how and why?
Ferguson, The Duchess of York, appeared on the show in November 2023 with Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary taking calls on love and relationships.
Princess Beatrice said of her mum starring on This Morning: "She absolutely love working with the This Morning team. I think it's one of her favourite things to do. She's such a phenomenal icon and as a mum she's been amazing, and she's been through so much and her sense of purpose and resilience really keeps me going."
She added of her mother's agony aunt slot: "I thought it was one of the most hilarious segments I've seen for a while. I watched it sort of half under the half under the sofa and half, sort of like, 'Come on, Mum, you can do it'. So it was a great great day."
Princess Beatrice hinted she would like to return to This Morning. She said: "Of course I will send my mum your love Josie and when I'm back in the UK maybe we can do something together."
Royal family's illness
Elsewhere in the interview, she was asked about the difficult time the royal family are experiencing due to illness. Princess Beatrice admitted there was "nothing is more important than family" and said how much it meant to "be there for each other when anyone is going through a health scare."
The princess was asked how her mother, the Duchess of York, has been since undergoing a mastectomy to combat breast cancer in 2023. Since then it has been revealed that King Charles III and Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales have been diagnosed with cancer.
Princess Beatrice said of her mother: "She's doing really well thank you, Josie. She's had a bumpy health scare last year, but all clear now. I think at 64 she's, thriving. She's been through so much, but I think really now she's coming into her own.
"I think it's we're just reminded, when any parent or individual has a sort of a health scenario, just really get the checks that you need as early as you possible can. And I think my sister and I are so proud of her for taking the steps to get those checks and we've really modeled our health considerations on that. But hopefully we can do as much as we can and be there to support each other when anyone goes through a health scare."
Doyle said: "It's been a tough year for all your family across the board, and it's interesting watching you all come together and support each other." Princess Beatrice replied: "Nothing is more important than family."
This Morning airs on weekdays from 10am on ITV1.
