Priscilla Presley to share why Elvis loved Hawaii so much

HONOLULU (KHON2) — Elvis Presley is beloved in Hawaii for his many concert appearances and movies. His former wife Priscilla Presley will be performing at the Hawaii Theatre on Friday, for a show promising to shed more light on the private side of the King of Rock and Roll.

Priscilla will share home videos and pictures, and of course stories about their years together, and his love of Hawaii.

“He would always go there to relax, first chill out, and then he felt much better in confronting what he had to do and finish up like shows in Vegas and other places as well,” Presley said. “I mean, he when he performed. I mean, he gave it his all. So after that month, let’s say, of him performing, he just needed to chill out and just not think of anything and and relax and, and, you know, appreciate life.”

It’s also a chance for her to hear from the audience, as they are given a chance to ask her questions.

“I’m sharing with them a lot of my life,” Presley says. “I’m really very private, always have been, but I think, you know, I have great stories to tell of it, and I would like to share that.”

This show is made even more special with an opening by Hawaii performing artist Ginny Tiu, who actually performed with Elvis in his movie “Girls Girls Girls.”

An Evening with Priscilla Presley is this Friday at 7 pm at Hawaii Theatre.

“This weekend, the Hawaii Theatre is going to be celebrating its 102nd birthday, very much for the generous support of our sponsors, First Hawaiian Bank and MasterCard, whose underwriting has allowed us to bring in Keystone events all of this year has been transformational for the theater,” said Greg Dunn, Hawaii Theatre President. “Hopefully people have noticed the caliber of events have gotten better, the frequency of events have gotten better, and really that’s the only way that we’re able to maintain the historic structure, is by putting on regular events and fundraising events like this weekend show, because we don’t receive any state or city funding to operate the venue.”
