Prison Break getting unexpected spin-off
Prison Break has a new reboot in the works, 17 years after the original series debuted.
Variety has confirmed that a new series set in the Prison Break world is being developed by Hulu.
Elgin James who co-created Sons of Anarchy spin-off Mayans M.C. is writing the show, which is in early stages of development.

Variety adds that the series is not expected to feature the characters from the original series, including Wentworth Miller's Michael Scofield and Dominic Purcell's Lincoln Burrows.
James will executive produce the series alongside Dawn Olmstead, Paul Scheuring (who created Prison Break), Marty Adelstein and Neal Moritz. Prison Break ended in 2009 after four seasons before being revived in 2017 for a fifth season, with Miller and Purcell returning.
A sixth season was heavily rumoured however in November 2020 Miller revealed on Instagram that he wouldn't be returning to the show.
Explaining that he no longer wants to play straight characters, Miller wrote: "I'm not concerned for myself. I can't be 'bullied' in this space. I have too much power. 'Delete. Block. Deactivate.' Etc. But I take seriously the possibility of queer kids visiting here, recently out of the closet or exploring the idea...

"I'm out of Prison Break. Officially. Not because of static on social media (although that has centered the issue). I just don't want to play straight characters. Their stories have been told (and told).
"So. No more Michael. If you were a fan of the show, hoping for additional seasons... I understand this is disappointing. I'm sorry. If you're hot and bothered because you fell in love with a fictional straight man played by a real gay one... That's your work."
Prison Break is available to watch on Amazon Prime Video, while seasons 1-5 are also out on Blu-ray and DVD.
