Prominent Irish Fest chef killed in Kansas City shooting

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City metro is mourning the death of a prominent Irish Fest chef who was shot and killed outside his own business.

On Wednesday night, multiple sources told FOX4 the victim is Shaun Brady, of Brady & Fox near E. 63rd and Rockhill. He was also a father.

Kansas City police confirmed his identity early on Thursday morning, he was 44 years old.

Kansas City police officers responded to that address Wednesday night on a report of a shooting and found a man dead.

Witnesses said Brady had been trying to stop someone breaking into a car.

Brady appeared on FOX4 many times, cooking food to promote Irish Fest, which takes place this weekend.

FOX4 spoke with Brady’s longtime friend Pat O’Neill, who talked about Brady’s character.

“The Irish community is totally stunned. He was a beloved figure, a native of Ireland, just a generous do anything for anyone kind of guy, so, a lot of us again, stunned, praying, angry, wondering why,” he said.

No suspect is in custody at this time.

Sources tell FOX4 the Irish Fest board is meeting Wednesday night.
