Pumpkinville officially opens for its 56th year
GREAT VALLEY, N.Y. (WIVB) – Great Valley’s Pumpkinville, a fall favorite in Western New York, officially opened for the season this weekend for its 56th year.
Since 1968, the 225-acre family-run farm has been welcoming families to pick pumpkins, squash, gourds and corn while taking in the autumnal views.
“It’s a beautiful day out. The fall weather has started coming down. The kids love pumpkins,” said Pumpkinville visitor Sarah Sharkey. “We decided to do something together for the family for the weekend.”
Kids wasted no time jumping into the fall season.
“It’s been a great first weekend,” said Lisa Pawlowski, a co-owner at Pumpkinville. “Beautiful weather. It’s been nice and sunny. Dry, we’ve had a lot of crowds coming out. A lot of interest in our 56th season here.”
At Pumpkinville, people can pick out their favorite pumpkin, run through a maze, shoot apples out of a cannon, and pet animals like a miniature pony, baby chickens and goats.
“We actually have never been here before. This is our first time in Pumpkinville and we’ve really enjoyed it,” said Julia Slomba, a Pumpkinville visitor. “We went some place in North Collins but they didn’t have much of a play area for toddlers… first time here and trying it out.”
Families are already planning for their next trip back for when the weather has more of an autumn crisp in the air.
“It’s definitely a summer day with the fall weather right behind it,” Sharkey said. “It’s beautiful out here.”
People have until Oct. 31 to join in on all the fun at Pumpkinville.
