Gill, who started singing at age 5 in his dad’s church, was encouraged by childhood friend singer Stacy Lattisaw, to make his first demo.

After beginning his solo career, Gill eventually became a member of New Edition, replacing Bobby Brown after New Edition group members voted him out.

Throughout his career, Gill was nominated for Grammy Awards and his music topped R&B and pop charts.
