Ray Romano, Mark Duplass balance heart, humor in exclusive trailer for Netflix's 'Paddleton'
In "Paddleton," funny guys Ray Romano and Mark Duplass get serious when dealing with cancer.
Directed by Alex Lehmann, the upcoming Netflix comedy/drama (with a trailer premiering at USA TODAY) casts Duplass as a man diagnosed with a terminal illness and Romano as his older neighbor and best friend. The two go on a bonding road trip to get a prescription that involves an ostrich farm, a hotel hot tub, their beloved sport Paddleton and various emotional moments.
"Paddleton" premieres at Sundance Film Festival Feb. 1 before streaming on Netflix beginning Feb. 22. And here's a fun fact: The bromantic love story of sorts was semi-improvised, with Duplass and Romano working off outlines in advance of shooting and sometimes writing their lines the night before filming so they were purposely not able to memorize them.
