‘It’s really inspiring’: Songwriter Townes Van Zandt honored at 6th annual tribute

BEN WHEELER, Texas (KETK) – Over in Ben Wheeler they honored legendary singer-songwriter Townes Van Zandt at their 6th annual Townes Van Zandt tribute on Sunday.

“It’s been amazing to see the turnout and just the response for the event every year. It’s really inspiring. You know, here’s a great songwriter and it’s it’s really great to see springtime weather. And it’s really a unique event that showcases him and his talents. And I think everybody shares that and appreciates that,” said Ross Pardue, co-owner of the Forge Bar and Grill.

The tribute event took place at the Forge Bar & Grill where several local singers and poets were paying tribute to Van Zandt, whose family is the namesake of Van Zandt County.

  • Ian Power

  • Erin York

  • Joshua Wallace

  • Kyle Lane

  • Daniel Westmoreland

The tribute was held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and a $10 donation was asked for to enter.
