REO Speedwagon to perform at Illinois State Fair Grandstand
Legendary rock group REO Speedwagon will be coming to the Illinois State Fair Grandstand in August, the first time in 10 years the band will grace the fair's main stage.
The fair announced Tuesday that the group will perform August 15 at 8 p.m. Tickets are slated to go on sale at a later date, but will cost $45 for track and Tier 1 seats, $38 for Tier 2 seats and $33 for Tier 3 seats.
Once on sale, tickets can be purchased via Ticketmaster or the Grandstand Box Office over the phone at (217) 782-1979, in person during business hours, or via mail order form.
REO Speedwagon is the second group announced for the fair's 2023 Grandstand lineup, joining county music superstar Maren Morris, whose August 19th show was announced on Jan. 31.

The group's 2023 show will mark the seventh time the Champaign-based band will perform at their home state fair, first appearing in 1987 alongside Richard Marx. They have since appeared at the fair in 1988, 1990, 2000, 2005 (alongside fellow Illinois-based group Cheap Trick and Head East) and most recently in 2013 alongside Styx and Head East.
One of the biggest bands of the 1980s, the group has sold more than 40 million records since its formation in 1966, with a pair of No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 – "Keep on Loving You" in 1981 and "Can't Fight This Feeling" in 1985. They're also known for hits such as "Take It On The Run" and "Keep the Fire Burning", which both reached the top 10.
The group continues to tour but hasn't released an album of new recordings since 2007.
