Report: Harris campaign requests Vice Presidential vetting materials from Josh Shapiro
(WHTM) – Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign has reportedly asked Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro to submit vetting materials for her search for a running mate.
The report by The Hill on Tuesday came an hour after Shapiro denied being requested vetting materials for the job.
“I was not asked and I have not submitted paperwork,” said Shapiro during an event at Shippensburg University.

A first-term governor, Shapiro has also served as Pennsylvania’s Attorney General, was a member of the State House, and was Chair of the Montgomery County Commissioners. On Sunday, Shapiro endorsed Harris, repeatedly calling her a friend he’s known for nearly 20 years and someone capable of serving as President.
The Hill also reports that Arizona Senator Mark Kelly has been requested to submit materials. North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper (D), Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) are among those being considered, a Democratic official told The Hill.
USA Today reported that Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker (D) and former Biden administration official and former Rep. Cedric Richmond (D-La.) also received a request for materials.
A Harris campaign spokesperson did not respond to a request for comment by The Hill.
