Richard Simmons, who just celebrated 76th birthday, dies

(WJW) — A living legend has died after celebrating his 76th birthday this week, TMZ first reported.

Richard Simmons, known for helping so many people get in shape and feel good about themselves, reportedly died at his home in Los Angeles Saturday, officials told TMZ.

Police told the outlet that no foul play is suspected and he was pronounced dead at the scene after his housekeeper found him in the morning.

Richard Simmons ‘never’ gave permission for biopic

Simmons had just taken to Facebook Friday to thank fans for their birthday wishes.

“So many of you have sent me birthday wishes on my Facebook and other platforms,” he wrote. “I really appreciate that. I don’t know when your birthday is but I wish you a happy and healthy birthday!”

The fitness guru had stepped away from the spotlight in recent years, but still posted on social media from time to time. Earlier this year, he opened up about a previous skin cancer diagnosis.
