Riverdale fan favourite to return for final season
Riverdale's seventh and final season is bringing back Ashleigh Murray.
Murray hasn't been seen as fan favourite Josie McCoy in the teen drama since season 5, but it's now been revealed in a new synopsis that the star will reprise the character in this season's 17th episode on August 2.
Titled 'A Different Kind of Cat', this episode (via Collider) sees Betty Cooper attempting to publish her own book with a helping hand from Cheryl Blossom and Toni Topaz.

At the same time, the likes of Veronica Lodge, Kevin Keller and Clay Walker host a screening of Josie's latest movie at the Babylonium – with Josie herself in attendance.
Meanwhile, star M?dchen Amick has revealed that former co-star Skeet Ulrich is unlikely to return for the final episodes.
"He was invited back," she said, "but then it fell through. I don’t know the particulars on it. But he ended up not coming on board. We were sort of hoping that everybody would come through.
“I think [creator] Roberto [Aguirre-Sacasa]'s intention was to have everybody back that he could in that last season. There was an episode that was dedicated to [Ulrich’s] character, but it didn’t happen."

Despite popularity among the Riverdale fanbase, Murray has had to contend with her fair share of online abuse over the years, including when her character and Archie Andrews rekindling their romance on the show.
"People have literally called me a monkey, trash, sloppy, classless darkie and told me to jump in an oven because... Josie kissed Archie," she said in 2019.
Riverdale airs on The CW in the US and will end with season 7. In the UK, you can stream via Netflix.
