Ronald McDonald House offering limited Chiefs flags on Red Wednesday
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kansas City is gearing up for a busy Red Wednesday.
“This is a big week for Kansas City. It’s Red Wednesday. It’s the Chiefs home opener,” said RMHC CEO Tami Greenberg.
“On Wednesday, everybody in Kansas City has a chance to buy this back-to-back Chiefs Kingdom flag at any local McDonald’s.”

Greenberg says the Red Wednesday tradition is the perfect opportunity for Kansas City to celebrate the Chiefs and get excited about the home opener while giving back to a good cause.
“You can do good for families with a sick child and get a Chiefs flag and get your McDonald’s breakfast on your way to work or school or whatever is happening in your day,” Greenberg explained.
”So it’s kind of a perfect day, Red Wednesday here in Kansas City.”
The Kansas City Chiefs will sell a limited edition flag for a donation of $5, benefitting Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kansas City and its mission to keep families with sick children close to each other and the care and resources they need.
“Every family staying with us has a child that is seriously ill. Maybe their child is fighting cancer, or maybe their child needs a transplant. It’s serious what these families are going through,” Greenberg said.
“They pay nothing to stay with us. We take care of the family so they can be by their children when they’re sick. They pay nothing to stay with us because Kansas City supports our charity so generously.“

Over the last ten years, The sale of Chiefs Red Wednesday flags has raised more than $5.5 million to help RMHC Kansas City continue its mission.
“It always boggles my mind and inspires me,” Greenberg said.
“When else can you make a $1,000,000 difference, $5 at a time. People throughout the metro and from every corner of the metro will come together to buy a $5 flag and know that all of those proceeds stay right here in Kansas City to make a huge difference for kids and families.“
Lines at McDonald’s locations around the metro will start forming early Wednesday morning.
“These flags say back-to-back champions. We know they’re going to sell out,” Greenberg said.
“I will say this: when they’re gone, they’re gone. So I would really encourage all of Kansas City to get out to their local McDonald’s, get out early, and buy your flag.”
This year’s flag, featuring a special back-to-back championship design, will be sold at more than 135 Kansas City and St. Joseph-area McDonald’s restaurants and Kansas City-area Hy-Vee locations.
