Accuser's open letter to Roy Moore: 'Where does your immorality end?'
Leigh Corfman, the first woman to accuse Alabama Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore of sexually assaulting her, has written an open letter to the former judge demanding that he stop calling her a liar.
“I demand that you stop calling me a liar and attacking my character,” Corfman wrote in the letter, published by AL.com on Tuesday. “I am telling the truth, and you should have the decency to admit it and apologize.”
Earlier this month, the Washington Post published a report detailing sexual misconduct allegations against Moore by four women, including Corfman. She told the newspaper that in 1979 — when she was 14, and Moore was 32 — Moore partially undressed her and himself, touched her over her undergarments and guided her hand to touch him.
“When the Washington Post approached me about what you did to me as a child, I told them what happened, just as I had told family and friends years before,” Corfman wrote in her open letter. “I stand by every word.”
Corfman was the first of nine women to publicly accuse Moore of various forms of misconduct. All but one said they were teenagers when Moore pursued sexual relationships with them.
Moore has fiercely denied misconduct allegations, and denied even knowing Corfman.
On Wednesday, his campaign tweeted a link to a video report that attempts to smear his accusers.

At a rally in Henagar, Ala., on Monday night, Moore called the charges against him “completely false” and described them as a conspiracy concocted by Democrats and establishment Republicans.
“These allegations are completely false,” he said. “They are malicious. Specifically, I do not know any of these women, nor have I ever engaged in sexual misconduct with anyone.”
Last week, in an appearance on NBC’s “Today” show, Corfman elaborated on her alleged encounter with Moore.
Referring to Moore’s assertion that he doesn’t even know her, she remarked: “I wonder how many me’s he doesn’t know.”
“I gave an interview on television so that people could judge for themselves whether I was telling the truth,” she wrote in the open letter. “You sent out your spokesmen to call me a liar. Day after day. Finally, last night, you did the dirty work yourself.”
“The initial barrage of attacks against me voiced by your campaign spokespersons and others seemed petty, so I did not respond,” Corfman continued. “But when you personally denounced me last night and called me slanderous names, I decided that I am done being silent. What you did to me when I was 14 years old should be revolting to every person of good morals. But now you are attacking my honesty and integrity. Where does your immorality end?”
The Moore campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Moore and Democratic candidate Doug Jones are vying for the U.S. Senate seat that was vacated by Jeff Sessions when he was appointed attorney general. The special election is scheduled for Dec. 12.
At the White House last week, President Trump said that people in Alabama should vote for Moore because Jones is a Democrat.
When he was asked by reporters whether having an alleged molester in the Senate was preferable to seating a Democrat, the president pointed to Moore’s denials.
“Well, he denies it,” Trump said. “Look, he denies it.”
“He says it didn’t happen, and you know, you have to listen to him also,” the president added.
