Rural Champaign Co. intersection closed for one week

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — A rural intersection in Champaign County is closed for construction over the next week.

The intersection is located southeast of Urbana — County Road 1900E and Windsor Road/County Road 1400N. Officials with the Champaign County Highway Department said the intersection closed Monday morning for pavement removal and replacement.

Local access to the intersection is available, officials said, but there is no marked detour. Drivers are asked to use alternate routes and avoid the construction zone. If they must drive near or through the work zone, drivers are asked to proceed with caution and obey all traffic control methods.

The intersection is expected to reopen on Aug. 5.
