Russellville man pleads guilty to lesser charge in 2022 stabbing

RUSSELLVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — A man who was charged with murder for a 2022 stabbing pleaded guilty to a lesser charge on Friday.

According to court records, Tyler Blake Garrison pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter. Garrison was originally arrested following a stabbing in June 2022 and charged with murder, drug trafficking and several counts of possession of drugs.

Court documents show Garrison is now sentenced to serve 22 years in the Alabama Department of Corrections.

Russellville Police Chief Chris Hargett said officers were called out to a stabbing at a home on Cotaco Street around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2022.

When they arrived, officers found Richard Anthony Davis, 42, unresponsive with a stab wound.

Witnesses told investigators that the victim was involved in a verbal argument with Garrison and it turned physical.

Chief Hargett said Garrison left the scene, but he returned around 3:30 a.m. and was taken into custody.

Jail records show he is still being held at the Frankin County Jail awaiting transfer to ADOC.
