Salisbury Police ID motorcyclist who died in Route 13 crash as 22-year-old Mardela man
Salisbury Police have now identified the motorcycle operator who died of injuries suffered in a Thursday evening crash on Route 13 in Salisbury.

On Thursday, April 18, at about 5:28 p.m., officers of the Salisbury Police Department responded to the area of Route 13 and Pinehurst Avenue to investigate a report of a motor vehicle collision. Upon arrival, officers observed a motorcycle and van that had been in an apparent collision. Salisbury EMS arrived shortly thereafter to render aid to the involved drivers.
The initial investigation revealed that 22-year-old Ethan Smith of Mardela Springs was operating a 2003 Suzuki GSX motorcycle traveling northbound on S. Salisbury Blvd. at a high rate of speed. A 2020 Ford Transit van was making a left turn from southbound S. Salisbury Blvd. into a business parking lot within the 900 block of S. Salisbury Blvd. when the motorcycle collided with the van.

Smith was pronounced deceased at the scene by members of Salisbury EMS due to injuries apparently sustained from the collision. The driver and sole occupant of the van was transported to TidalHealth for non-life threatening injuries.
