School bus crash southwest of Topeka
Update 9 a.m.: A spokesperson for USD 437 confirmed to 27 News that the bus was with their district.
TOPEKA (KSNT) – The Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office confirmed a school bus vs. car crash southwest of Topeka Monday morning.
At 7:25 a.m. the sheriff’s office was called to the intersection of 47th and Birch for a report of a school bus vs car crash. According to Shawnee County dispatchers, no injuries were reported.
Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office Spokeswoman Abigail Christian said a 17-year-old was driving a 2012 Fiat 500 westbound. The driver was traversing a curve in the road when she hit the school bus traveling east. Christian said the bus driver was a 76-year-old man.
Jessica Roberts with USD 437 told 27 News in a written statement around 10:15 a.m. on Aug. 26 the bus was carrying eight middle and high school students when it was rear-ended by another vehicle. No one was injured in the crash. Students were moved to another bus due to damage inflicted on their bus during the crash.
