Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ arrest on Monday, Sept. 16 for racketeering, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to his problems. The 14-page indictment spells out beyond troublesome behavior which is going to cost a pretty penny to defend himself against the serious charges. The legal bills are reportedly mounting quickly, and he may have significant financial issues already.

In early September, Combs put his Beverly Hills estate up for sale for $61.5 million, per Realtor.com. The property was a part of the March Homeland Security raid when he was under investigation for sex trafficking — and the house is curiously next to the home his ex-girlfriend, Jennifer Lopez, is hoping to buy. If he sells the place for his asking price, he will stand to make a $20.5 million profit on the home he bought for $39 million just a decade ago. That cash would likely help him pay off his rising legal tab, according to In Touch Weekly.

“Defending him against these serious charges is a huge undertaking, and it’s gotten very expensive,” an insider told the media outlet. “He will hate to part with it, but he has no other choice.” However, another source backtracked on the reason for the sale, claiming that Combs “doesn’t need the L.A. place” despite the curious timing of the putting it on the market. No matter what the reason is, the 54-year-old music producer has a long legal battle ahead.

Marc Agnifilo, Combs’ attorney, fought against the charges outside the courtroom on Tuesday, Sept. 17. He said, per NBC News, “We are disappointed with the decision to pursue what we believe is an unjust prosecution of Mr. Combs by the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is a music icon, self-made entrepreneur, loving family man, and proven philanthropist who has spent the last 30 years building an empire, adoring his children, and working to uplift the Black community.”

Combs pleaded not guilty to all of the charges and was denied bail because he is considered a “flight risk.” He offered up a $50 million bail proposal package that included his $48 million Miami property and his mother’s $2 million residence as collateral, per reporter Meghann Cuniff’s X post. He also stated that he would be willing to wear an ankle monitor and limit his travel to New York, New Jersey, and Florida, but the judge denied his request.
