Search of Wisconsin home during wanted person check leads to seizure of meth & heroin, 5 arrested
NORTH FREEDOM, Wis. (WFRV) – Five people, ranging in age from 33 to 69, were taken into custody on Tuesday after a search of a southern Wisconsin home led to the seizure of methamphetamine, heroin, and other controlled substances.
According to the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office, during a check for a wanted person in the 400 block of North Maple Street in the Village of North Freedom on July 23, a cause was reportedly developed to conduct a probation/parole search of the residence related to ongoing drug activity.
During the search, investigators allegedly located and seized methamphetamine, heroin, THC, drug paraphernalia, and other controlled substances.
The investigation led to the arrest of five people, who were subsequently taken to the Sauk County Jail on the following charges:
Wilbur D. Taholski, 69, of North Freedom
Possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine
Possession of heroin
Possession of a controlled substance without valid prescription
Possession of THC
Possession of drug paraphernalia
Bail jumping
Maintaining a drug trafficking place
Kim M. Popple, 61, of North Freedom
Possession of methamphetamine
Maintaining a drug trafficking place
Justin C. Popple, 33, of North Freedom
Child support warrant
Probation violation
Anna M. Wilson, 40, of Baraboo
Probation violation
Fred B. Schwarz, 48, of North Freedom
Possession of methamphetamine
Possession of drug paraphernalia
Bail jumping

It was also noted that the investigation is ongoing and additional criminal charges may be added.
