Second alarm fire chars home in Jenkins Township

JENKINS TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— A Jenkins Township home caught fire just after midnight on Saturday morning.

According to the Luzerne County 911 Center, crews were called to the 50 block of Main Street around 12:30 a.m. for a fire department incident.

Prior to arriving on-scene, second-alarm units were requested because of the extent the fire, Jenkins Township Fire Department stated.

It is unknown at this time if there were any injuries.

The fire marshall was on-scene to assess the cause and damages of the structure according to officials

Multiple units from surrounding areas responded including: Pittston City Fire Department, Pittston Township Fire Department, Laflin Fire Department, Plains Fire Department, and Kingston Fire Department.
