Plea deal expected for man accused of murdering Muslim men in Albuquerque
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – KRQE News 13 has learned that a plea deal is in the works for a convicted killer connected to shooting and killing three Muslim men in Albuquerque. Muhammad Syed was found guilty in March of first-degree murder for the deadly shooting of 41-year-old Aftab Hussein. Two more trials were on deck for the murders of Mohammud Afzall Hussain and Naeem Hussein.

Aftab Hussein, Mohammud Azfaal Hussain, and Neaeem Hussein were murdered during the summer of 2022. The victims were not related to each other. Syed was arrested and charged for all three murders. The court ordered each charge to be tried separately.
Syed’s second trial was supposed to start next week but was canceled on Wednesday. Syed’s attorney confirmed a judge scheduled a hearing to consider a plea agreement for the two remaining counts of first-degree murder. That hearing is scheduled for Tuesday.
