One person and a shooter are dead after Republican presidential candidate and former president Donald Trump was rushed off stage by Secret Service with blood on his face and ear following gunshots at his rally on July 13, 2024, in Butler, Pennsylvania, near Pittsburgh.
The incident happened just two days before the Republican National Convention is set to begin in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on July 15, 2024.
Photos show how the Pennsylvania rally transformed into a crime scene.
"And then the worst president in the history of our country took over, and look what happened to our country," Trump said before the shooting. "If you want to really see something that's sad, take a look at what happened." Before Trump could finish his sentence, gunshots rang out. Trump grabbed his ear and was tackled to the ground by Secret Service.
Photos and video showed blood streaming from the former president's ear onto his face as he was escorted off the stage and law enforcement officers entered the crowd. Trump was reported safe. Butler County District Attorney Richard Goldinger told reporters that the shooter was dead.
