BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Francine made landfall in Louisiana as a Category 2 hurricane. As the storm made its way through the state, heavy rain and winds led to flooding and caused trees or power lines to fall on roadways.
Residents are encouraged to ‘turn around, don’t drown,’ if they see high water on the roadways. Drivers should not attempt to cross flooded areas and should never enter moving water, according to FEMA.
Residents should also use caution if they see a downed power line. According to First Energy Corporation, drivers should “assume any downed or low-hanging power line is energized and dangerous.”
