Several arrested on gun, drug charges in Blytheville

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Several arrests were made by the Blytheville Police Department earlier this month involving drugs and guns.

10 people were arrested, and eight guns were confiscated over the course of seven days.

On June 27, officers with the Violent Crimes Reduction Unit conducted a traffic stop in the 300 block of East Davis. After smelling a strong odor coming from the car, officers conducted a search which resulted in the confiscation of an AK-47-style pistol.

Timothy Bohannon, 21, was charged with possession of a controlled substance schedule VI.

On July 2, officers responded to the 500 block of East Cherry for an arrest warrant for 28-year-old Keveon Lewis. Reports say while officers were attempting to detain those inside the home, they smelled a strong odor, leading them to obtain a search warrant for the home.

During the search, officers located several items of drug paraphernalia, an AR-15-style rifle and approximately 14.8 ounces of suspected marijuana.

Keveon Lewis, Damontae Thomas, 22, Kealdrea Carter, 23, and homeowner Tendka Thomas, 46, were charged with simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, possession of a controlled substance schedule VI with the purpose to deliver 4oz<10lbs, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police say Lewis was also out on felony bond at the time of his arrest. Court records state that he was charged with first-degree murder.

Also on July 2, reports say officers were patrolling the area of the 1100 block of Hearn when they saw a man with a backpack talking with two other men. The men noticed the patrol car, ditched the backpack, and fled the scene.

Officers made contact with two juveniles, who were caught with suspected marijuana and paraphernalia. They were cited and brought to their parents.

The backpack was found in the driveway containing a .22 caliber rifle. Officers say they were unable to locate the third man, but have since identified him. Now, they are seeking warrants for him.

On the same day, officers stopped and searched a vehicle in the 2100 block of Edwards. Officers located a firearm, approximately 20 grams of Adderall pills, around 85 grams of suspected marijuana, and approximately 20 grams of Oxycodone pills.

The driver, Stephon Aldridge, 27, was taken into custody and charged with possession of a firearm by certain persons, resisting arrest, simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, possession of a controlled substance schedule VI with a purpose to deliver, and two counts of possession of a controlled substance schedule I,II with a purpose to deliver.

Reports say on July 4, officers conducted a traffic stop in the 1100 block of Edwards. After smelling a strong odor coming from the car, officers searched the vehicle.

Police say a firearm and a Percocet pill were located on 22-year-old Jermel Woods, who was a passenger in the vehicle. Woods also had three active failure-to-appear cash warrants through the City of Blytheville.

He was charged with the three warrants totaling $1,200, simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, and possession of a controlled substance schedule VI.

Also on July 4, officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of the 700 block of Parkway, where they did a search on the vehicle and found three firearms, multiple magazines, and suspected marijuana inside.

Makai Handy, 19, and Kiree Carter, 18, were taken into custody and charged with possession of a controlled substance schedule VI.

Lastly, on July 4, reports say officers were in the area of Howard and Peabody helping with another call when they heard several shots coming from down the road. They say they saw a man get into a vehicle and they conducted a traffic stop on the car.

Darrius Brown, 26, and all of the occupants inside the vehicle were detained. Officers located 10 spent shell casings on the scene and found a firearm inside the vehicle.

Brown was charged with discharging a firearm in city limits and the firearm was confiscated.
