Sheboygan announces new Public Works director, pending council approval

SHEBOYGAN – With the Sheboygan City Council’s approval, Travis Peterson will become the new director of Public Works on July 8.

The announcement came from the city Monday after former Department of Public Works Director David Biebel retired April 1.

Peterson has accumulated more than 25 years of environmental experience spanning design, soil expertise, vapor contamination and more. He specializes in environmentally sensitive construction and managing projects.

"We are thrilled to welcome Travis Peterson to our team," said Mayor Ryan Sorenson in a news release announcing the appointment. "His extensive background in project and infrastructure management aligns perfectly with our city's goals for sustainable growth and infrastructure improvement."

In addition to his environmental experience, Peterson has managed grant applications on the state and federal level and worked in partnership with construction and development companies.

"I am honored to join the city of Sheboygan as the director of Public Works," Peterson said in the release. "I look forward to contributing to the city's infrastructure development while maintaining a strong focus on environmental protection and community engagement."

City Administrator Casey Bradley said in the release he looks forward to working with Peterson and believes his experience will advance the city’s Public Works initiative.
