Sheriff says Livingston Parish school threat believed to be not credible, investigation ongoing
BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Livingston Parish deputies are investigating after Live Oak Middle School classes were delayed due to a possible threat.
The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to the middle school on Cecil Drive around 7 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20. to investigate a “potential threat to the campus.”
Sheriff Jason Ard said students were safe and kids would not be allowed on campus until a sweep was completed. He said investigators believe the threat was not credible.
Visitors were not allowed on campus and LPSO said students at Live Oak Middle and South Live Oak Elementary may experience some delays getting onto their campuses. Deputies said this was done “out of an abundance of caution.”
According to LPSO, multiple law enforcement agencies took part in the investigation and it is now all clear.
The investigation remains ongoing.
