Why did Silent Witness viewers find Sean Pertwee's cameo distracting?

Silent Witness viewers complained they were distracted by Sean Pertwee's cameo in the latest episode - because his voice made them hungry. Pertwee, 59, has had a successful acting career in TV and film in both the US and the UK for many years. But to fans of MasterChef: The Professionals, his distinctive voice is recognisable as the narrator of the show.

Pertwee, 59, guest starred as police officer DI John Flynn alongside Emilia Fox and David Cave in the latest episode of Silent Witness.
Fox celebrated his cameo on social media platform X, posting: "In this week’s #SilentWitness Death By A Thousand Hits we are joined by the excellent #SeanPertwee and #JulieGraham amongst another fantastic guest cast."

But some viewers were less happy to see Pertwee in the BBC crime drama, claiming it was distracting to hear the voice of MasterChef playing a police officer. One wrote on social media platform X: "Impossible to watch Sean Pertwee without imagining him lapsing into his 'Jasmin is facing a race against time to get her consommé as crystal clear as she wants' MasterChef patter. #SilentWitness."
Another said: "The voice of Sean Pertwee... Just hoping he's not going to describe the autopsy in detail. #SilentWitness #masterchef."
And a third complained: "I hate it when Sean Pertwee is acting in things because I just get hungry thinking about Masterchef #SilentWitness."
