Sinkhole opens up at base of Route 90 bridge into Ocean City: What to know
The Ocean City Police Department has warned motorists heading into Ocean City for the big Fourth of July holiday that a sinkhole has opened up near the base of the Route 90 bridge heading into the resort, impacting.traffic.
The department's first post Wednesday night on Facebook and X (formerly Twitter) warned of "intermittent closures" on eastbound Route 90 from Route 589 and westbound lanes from 62nd Street in Ocean City back on to Route 90.
By about 8:30 p.m., the department offered an update saying Route 90 would transition to one-way flagging operations during repairs, but the bridge is open to traffic today. However, due to the repair work, the department urged motorists to consider the alternative of Route 50.
