Slow Horses star Jack Lowden lands next lead movie role
Slow Horses star Jack Lowden has landed a role in the upcoming movie Ella McCay (via Deadline).
The plot of the movie revolves around an idealistic young politician who tries to balance familial issues and a difficult work life, as she prepares to take over her mentor's job as the state’s governor.
Sex Education’s Emma Mackey will play the role of the politician and will be joined by a star-studded cast including Halloween’s Jamie Lee Curtis, Woody Harrelson, The Bear’s Ayo Edebiri, Albert Brooks, Kumail Nanjiani, Spike Fearn and of course, Lowden.

James L Brooks will direct and produce the movie alongside producing partners Julie Ansell and Richard Sakai, with Seth Meier executive producing.
Lowden is also working alongside Marvel star Hayley Atwell in Rogue Trooper. The upcoming animated science fiction feature is based on the classic British comic of the same name and will feature an impressive cast.
Meanwhile, Slow Horses is set to return for its fourth season, with filming having already taken place in spring 2023, though there is no official release date yet, Lowden will reprise his role as River Cartwright after a tumultuous season 3 finale.

At the end of the season, important documents revealing dodgy goings-on at MI5 were leaked by River. This resulted in Taverner taking disgraced Tearney's place as First Desk (the Director-General of MI5).
"Where it ends in season three, where Taverner thinks she's got what she wants, let's just say there's a recalibration of that at the start of the next series," showrunner Will Smith told Digital Spy in an exclusive interview.
"There's repercussions [from River's leak], but they're more left field than directly to do with what he leaks," he added.
