Smyth County issues indefinite boil water notice, asks residents to stay inside
SMYTH COUNTY, Va. (WJHL) – A boil water advisory was issued until further notice in Smyth County on Friday.
A Smyth County Water and Sewer Department release said the boil water notice comes after a tank ran dry, affecting St. Clairs Creek.

Consumers in Smyth County are advised to bring their drinking water to a rolling boil for one minute before consumption.
The release said the notice will be in effect until further notice.
The county also asked everyone to stay indoors after dark while crews continue to work.
“This storm has stressed our county, but we will continue to provide services as best we can,” a news release from the county states. “Please stay safe and if safe, check on neighbors and family.”
