Sofia Vergara sizzles in gold at the red carpet premiere of ‘Griselda’ in Miami Beach
Sofia Vergara went for the gold on the red carpet Tuesday night for the local premiere of “Griselda” at the Jackie Gleason theater at the Fillmore in Miami Beach Tuesday night.
Vergara, who had just joked on Instagram how tired she was from doing so much press leading up to the big event, looked anything but in a strapless, cleavage-baring metallic gown that fit her like a glove.
We could understand if the “Modern Family” alum was a little weary; she jetted in to town a few days ago to mix work and pleasure, the 305 way. On Sunday, Vergara and pals dined out at SoFi hot pot Papi Steak, running into a few soccer studs, including Inter Miami’s Lionel Messi.
But on Tuesday night, she was back to business, striking Hollywood-esque poses, hamming it up with her co-stars like rapper Karol G.
The trailer for the Netflix six-parter shows Vergara looking shockingly different than how fans usually see her. The usually glam actress had to undergo a physical transformation to play drug lord Griselda Blanco, who ran one of the most powerful cartels in history in the late ‘70s to early ‘80s.
Vergara reportedly had to sit in the makeup chair daily for hours to be placed with oversized, yellowing teeth, a new set of eyebrows and prosthetic nose, actually made of rubber.
“I couldn’t become [Griselda] exactly. But I wanted to disappear,” she told the Los Angeles Times of her process. “I wanted Gloria Pritchett to disappear. That was achievable ... I think it worked because I didn’t try to become her. I tried to become a woman of that era.”
The founder Toty, a line of beauty products, is also hoping that “Griselda,” streaming Thursday, opens up more dramatic opportunities.
“I’m 51, so it’s not easy, but it’s been good,” she added. “And to have people see me in another role because everybody recognizes me as Gloria and nothing else because I haven’t really done anything but comedy — it is like a new chapter for me in every way.“
