Work has begun with crews getting ready to replace some culverts in the area. On Monday, they were getting equipment in place and offloading drain pipes.

County Road 10 is shut down to through traffic now through August to improve drainage by replacing two huge culverts, according to assistant county engineer Mark Acreman.

“They were damaged during Sally given the torrential amount of rainfall we received, and we did repair them, but this is a permanent repair,” Acreman said. “This is a complete replacement of the two box culverts. They are about 51 inches by 31 inches in size so pretty big box culverts, and there are two of them that we are replacing in the same location.”

The area where the work is being done is only about a tenth of a mile long. A detour is set up around the work area that may increase traffic on County Road 12 and County Road 49. Motorists are encouraged to budget a little more time if they usually travel in the area.

The $180,000 project is being funded through an emergency repair grant.
