South Grand Island bridge closure begins Saturday night
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — An extended lane closure is set to begin Saturday night on the southbound South Grand Island Bridge, the New York State Thruway Authority announced.
The right lane of the bridge will be closed from 8 p.m. Saturday until 3 a.m. Monday.
Crews will be performing routine maintenance this weekend as well as inspecting the structure to make sure it meets National Bridge Inspection Standards.
Drivers should expect significant delays and are urged to stay alert. The North Grand Island Bridge will remain open to get back-and-forth to the island.
Additional closures are also expected on the northbound South Grand Island Bridge for the next two weekends. More information is expected ahead of the closures.
