Springfield-Greene Co. Health Dept. closes Chestnut Expressway location for renovation

The Springfield-Greene County Health Department's building on Chestnut Expressway has closed for renovations. The health department offices will be closed this week while it relocates to its temporary location at Cox Medical Tower, 1443 N. Robberson Ave.

This week, services such as STI testing and treatment, vaccinations, vital records and lab services will be unavailable.

Due to renovations at the Harold K. Bengsch building, 227 E. Chestnut Expressway, the SGCHD will operate out of the fourth floor of Cox Medical Tower starting March 4, according to a news release. There, citizens will be able to access services like STI testing and treatment, vaccinations, vital records and lab services.

Health department programs with offices outside the Bengsch building will not experience a pause in service or be affected by the relocation, such as WIC, Greater Ozarks Regional Mother’s Milk Depot, environmental health services and animal control.

"Springfield-Greene County Health is informing the public early of this relocation and pause in services in an effort to minimize any inconvenience that may arise from this situation," a Jan. 17 press release said. "We understand that this will pose challenges for some and with that in mind, want to provide ample time for individuals to plan for how they may be impacted."
