Sprinkler system saves Fond du Lac strip mall in kitchen fire, minimal damage reported

FOND DU LAC, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities from the Fond du Lac Fire Rescue are crediting the sprinkler system in a kitchen for keeping damage to a minimal amount after a Saturday morning fire.

Around 10:53 a.m. on Saturday, July 6, the Fond du Lac Fire Rescue was dispatched for a commercial fire alarm at 325 Winnebago Drive.

Fire crews were alerted upon arrival that a single fire sprinkler head was activated in the kitchen within Fast Taco at 335 Winnebago Drive.

The sprinkler head put out the fire that occurred on a two-burner cooktop. The incident caused minimal water and soot damage to Fast Taco and an adjacent business.

The fire was reportedly caused by unattended cooking, according to the release.

No injuries were reported.
