St. Tammany Parish among top three parishes in Louisiana for visitor spending, study finds
ST. TAMMANY PARISH, La. (WGNO) — Leaders with Visit The Northshore announced that St. Tammany Parish had the third-highest amount of visitor spending in the state for 2023.
According to Visit The Northshore, almost 3 million people visited the parish last year and spent $1.3 billion.

Visit The Northshore leaders said parish households saved $1,345 in taxes through tax revenue paid by visitors to the parish.
They said the amount of taxes saved by households equates to 84 shrimp po-boys served throughout the parish, 134 Abita Brewery tours in Abita Springs, 38 boat rides along the Honey Island Swamp in Slidell, 102 pounds of fudge from The Candy Bank in Mandeville and 89 one-hour bike rentals on the Tammany Trace.
In a news release, Visit The Northshore leaders said they used marketing strategies to attract visitors to St. Tammany Parish through travel guides, social media and a new podcast that highlights guests from the community.

In 2025, the group says it plans to launch a hospitality training program that aims to offer hands-on training and workshops for providing “exceptional guest experiences for visitors.
“Our organization has been playing a critical role in influencing the visitor economy for The Northshore since our inception,” said Visit The Northshore President and CEO Donna O’Daniels in a news release. “We’re so proud of what this community has been able to accomplish together, and we look forward to even greater growth moving forward.”
