Standoff in local neighborhood ends in two arrests
AKRON, Ohio (WJW) – The Summit County Sheriff’s Office is releasing information about what led to a standoff and arrest on Monday.
Deputies responded to Elma Street in Akron to serve a felony arrest warrant on 41-year-old James Swisher of Akron.
According to a press release, Swisher was outside with two other men but ran into the home when deputies arrived.
SWAT and hostage negotiators responded when Swisher refused to leave the home, deputies said.

After four hours, SWAT team members entered the home and found Swisher in the basement.
Swisher was arrested on multiple charges including drug trafficking, according to the release.
One of the men on the scene was also wanted on two outstanding felony warrants.
Deputies also arrested George Sport, 56, of Akron.
